RECOVERY AND RESTORATION OF THE CHURCH IN SAN ROCCO Quaglietta (SA)

The church of S. Rocco Quaglietta seems to be hiding in the houses of the district, covered by a gable roof on its main entrance opens sull'antistante square. On August 16 of each year the community of quail, following a tradition that began in 1656, celebrates its patron saint, San Rocco of Montpellier. The events organized for this occasion are so many and so rich in folklore that attract people from neighboring countries such Caposele, Senerchia, Calabritto, Oliveto Citra, Contursi, Colliano, Valva and other countries even more distant. This country is medieval-looking group of hundreds of strangers who annually are greeted by people dressed in festive dancing, singing, rejoicing, as they did their forefathers, all among sfolgorii and colors of traditional lights. Following decades of neglect and the earthquake of 80 the church was in a very ruinous condition. The painstaking work of restoration carried out by COEDIL SUD (as reported in the Trapani area of a local newspaper) ended with the consolidation and retrieval of static structures.
